Similar to User Experience Design, the essence of listing optimization is to provide a better shopping experience for the customers.  Online marketplaces today are oversaturated with products from all over the world.  It is difficult to stand out from the competitors without providing quality content that clearly communicates the value of your product.

In an oversaturated marketplace, it is important to drive exposure to your product listings.  I have worked with multiple native (Amazon, Etsy) and external PPC advertising tools (Google Adwords) to drive traffic to Amazon listings.
